Due to their structural bearing capacity steel stairs offer an almost unlimited variety of design options. Therefore, the design of steel stairs in modern architecture no longer concentrates only on functional aspects; steel stairs have increasingly become a creative element of interior design. Because of its high structural capacity steel complies with the stringent static requirements even if the cross sections used are relatively small. Moreover, steel has properties that allow it to be shaped by (cold) rolling. Since 2014 MetallArt steel stairs have been marked with the legally required CE label.
Using the relevant technical know-how and modern machinery steel stairs can be designed as curved or spiralled constructions.

Qualifications | Certifications for steel components
MetallArt belongs to the certified welding specialists and therefore we surely comply with the CE label for steel stairs which has been regulated by law since 01.07.2014. This certificate is used to demonstrate the required design according to DIN EN 1090 that is needed for parts made of steel. As a manufacturer of steel stairs our in-house production control and its regulations must be met and in this context they are regularly reviewed and controlled by a monitoring and certification authority, approved by the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DiBt).
Depending on the types of construction there are different classes of design and hazard. For all steel constructions the party issuing the tender (architect, planer) has to specify the execution class according to which the components have to be produced.
- Certification | Schweißnachweis nach DIN EN 1090-2 (Stahl) EXC1
- Certification | Welding Certificate (EN 1090-2) for Steel and Stainless Steel EXC 2
- Certification | Welding Certificate (EN 1090-2) for Steel and Stainless Steel EXC 3
- Certification | Welding Certificate (EN 1090-3) for Aluminium EXC 2
Steel stairs - classic or modern style?
The current trends in architecture are definitely staircase designs featuring parapet-high steel stringers or a closed underside soffit lining. The material steel is absolutely predestined for these constructions as it offers extensive options to be machined. As the steel components can be finished with a coloured lacquering it is possible to influence the living ambiance.
